Crime?
Crime is a universal social headache all over the world nowadays.Especially in big cities,this problem appears to be extremely serious.Most city dwellers are lacking in the sense of security,because they can never tell whether the stranger at the door is a real peddler or a would?be robber.Wealthy parents would never allow their kids to go out alone.Pickpockets,when engaged in their business,even ignore the eyes around them.?
This seemingly uncontrollable situation is,to a great extent,the result of general public’s attitudes towards crime.Many people,when seeing a criminal behavior going on before them,either turn their eyes away,or just stand by,watching.Thes e reactions are induced entirely by the fear that their interference might lead to a threat to their life.?
From my point of view,if the present tendency continues,before long the whole society will be in a chaotic order.To improve the social security,I think more policemen are needed and more severe punishment should be imposed on criminals.

On Military Training?
Today in China military training has found its way into college life.Like soldiers,all undergraduates at universities and colleges are required to receive certain amount of military training,towards which people hold rather conflicting attitudes.?
Some people believe that this kind of training is quite beneficial for the youths.For one thing,the training enables them to develop a sense of discipline.For another,the training acquaints them with the basic skills in the army.However,others strongly oppose this practice,regarding it as a waste of time,because they see no connection between the training and the students? future jobs.?
In my opinion,military training could serve as a valuable experience.On one hand,it tells those young people living on campus the meaning of hardship so as to inspire them to study harder.On the other hand it offers them at least a taste of another kind of life.

On Studying Abroad?
Studying abroad has come into fashion in China.Many undergraduates at colleges and universities regard studying abroad as the highest pursuit for their four years of college life.And a big percentage of postgraduates go directly to some prestigious high educational institutions in foreign countries upon graduation.More over,quite a number of students,when there is a chance,even stop halfway here in order to go abroad as early as possible.?
Why do we have so many Chinese youths studying abroad?First of all,the advanced laboratories and sophisticated apparatuses are so appealing to them.Second,the better living standards abroad serve as another irresistible attraction.Third,better job opportunities will be waiting for them when they come back after studying abroad.?
If I have a chance to study abroad,I will not let go of it.Actually,I have already passed my TOFEL and GRE tests,and presently I?m applying to a few well?known American universities.
