My Mother isa kind and gentle woman. She is always very gentle. She takes good care of her children and keeps them all at school. I have one brother and two sistets. So she gets four children in all. She gives us every comfort. We all love her and she loves us also.
My mother has too much to do in bringing us up. As our family is too poor to keep a servant, my mother has always to do very much work. She gets up very early and sleeps very late every day. She works hard, yet without complaining.
She is also a thrifty, and industrious woman. She saves every cent that she can and keeps everything in order. As she has been busy eversince she was young, she looks older than she really is. Her face is wrinkled, her hair becomes silver white, but she works as hard as ever.
Often she says to us, "work while you work, play while you play. If you do not work, you will become lazy and of no use to society." What piece of good advice this is! We must worth it well and always keep it in our mind.
我的母亲
我的母亲是一位心地善良、性情温和的女性。她总是彬彬有礼。她细心地照顾孩子并使他们都上学读书。我有一个哥哥，两个妹妹，所以她总共有四个孩子。她使我们做每件事时都感到舒适。我们都爱她，她也爱我们。
为了抚养我们，母亲有太多的事要做。因为我们家很穷，雇不起佣人，母亲总是必须做很多工作。她每天起早贪黑，辛苦地工作，从无怨言。
她又是一位节俭勤勉的妇女。她尽可能地节省每一分钱，并且使每一件事情都井井有条。由于年轻时就一直忙碌，所以从外表看上去更见苍老。她的脸布满皱纹，头发也变成了灰白，但她仍像从前一样辛勤地操劳。
她常对我们说：“工作时工作，玩乐时玩乐，如果不工作，你将变得懒惰，从而无益于社会。”这是一番多么好的忠告啊!我们必须珍视它，并将它牢记心中。

(2)Deep Mother Love
Every child is surrounded by the deep mother love. However, we often turn a blind eye to the love. One day I deeply felt the love.
One day I hurried home for lunch after school, because there would be an exam in the afternoon and I had expected to go back to school early to prepare for the exam. But when I got home, the lunch was not ready yet. I felt unhappy. When the dishes were served, I forund none I like. I ran out of my house angrily and wanderde on the street for a while,hungry. Then I walked to school.
When I got into the classroom, I saw a lunch box on my desk. One classmate told me that it was my mother ther that had brought it here.After opening the box, I found my favorite food inside. My eyes was moist with tears.
Mother gave me her love without asking for return, How deep mother love is!
深沉的母爱
每个孩子都被深沉的母爱包围着，然而我们经常对这种爱视而不见。一天我深深感受到了这种爱。
一天放学后我匆忙回家吃午饭，因为下午考试，我希望早一点回校准备考试。但是我到家时午饭还没有准备好，我很不高兴。饭菜端上来时，我发现没有一样是我喜欢的。我生气地跑出了家门，饿着肚子在街上游荡了一会，然后往学校走去。
走进教室后，我看到书桌上有一个午餐盒，一个同学告诉我那是我妈妈送来的。打开盖子，里面是我喜欢吃的。我的眼睛湿润了。
妈妈无私地把爱给了我，却不求任何回报。多么深沉的母爱啊!
(3)Presents for My Mother
Today is my mother's Day. My father and I wanted to give her surprising birthday presents.
In the morning we went to the shop and bought a big cake. Then we went to the market and bought some food that mother liked very much. After getting home, we began to prepare our presents. Father went into the kitchen to prepare a big meal while I went into my room to make a card. I drew three rabbits biggest one was eating grass while the other two were playing happily under a big tree. To tell you the truth, it was my family because all of us were born in the year of rabbit.
It was almost 12 o'clock. The delicious food on the table made my mouth water. Everything was ready. We seated ourselves at the table, waiting for my mother. When we heardthe sound of opening the door, we hid behind the door and cheered, "Happy Birthday!" as soon as mother came in.
Mother was seated at the table and I showed her my present. She looked at it and smiled. "Have a taste of the delicious food. It was made by Father himself."I said. Mother looked at my father and me, picking up her chopsticks.
How happy we were!
给妈妈的生日礼物
今天是母亲节，爸爸和我想给她令她惊喜的礼物。
早上我们去商店买了一个大蛋糕。然后我们去了市场，买了妈妈最喜欢的食物。回家后，我们就开始准备我们的礼物。爸爸进了厨房，去准备一顿好饭；我进房间准备制作一张卡片。我在卡上画了三只兔子，两只大的，一只小的。最大的那只在吃草，另外两只在树底下嬉戏。告诉你吧，这就是我的家，因为我们都是在兔年出生的。

People can't imagine life without water. Without it, the earth we live on would be a dead one. There would be no trees, no crops, no animals and no people. So water is considered to be next to oxygen in importance.
Although nearly three quarters of the earth's surface is covered with water, it is sea water and undrinkable. The demand for water is increasing, while water resources are scarce. Agricultural production needs enormous amounts of water, so does industry. Besides,the rapid growth of population makes it more and more difficult for people to survive because of the water shortage. So water shortage has become one of the most serious problems.
Fortunately, people have realized this pressing problem and are trying to find ways to salve it. First, people are urged to economize on water. Second, measures are taken to protect water resources. Third, circulating water is used for industrial purposes over and over in factovies and treated sewage water is used for irrigation in farming land.

Water Pollution
Water pollution is caused by waste from factories and cities. Oceans are able to clean themselves, but certain seas,once they become dirty, are not able to do so. One example is the Mediterranean which lies between Europe and Africa. It has onlyeone narrow entrance to the ocean in the west. On quarter of the shores of the Mediterranean are polluted and are no longer safe for swimming, as a lot of diseases are present in the water. In most places it is not safe to eat the fish.
Lakes also have the same problems. Lake Baikal in Asia was once the cleanest in the world, with over 700 different kinds of plant and animal life. Now, however, the waters of this great lake, which is also the world's deepest (over 1,740 metres), have been dirtied by waste from a chemical factory.
In 1989 an oil tanker hit a rock off the northwest coast of Alaska. 35,000 tons of oil poured into the sea. The accident was one of the worst in history. More than 34,000 birds and
10,000 animals were killed. 4,800 square kilometres of ocean were polluted.

3 Water pollution 水源污染

Water is used in homes, in farming, and in manufacturing. The water used by the people comes from oceans, lakes, rivers, and streams. Many water sources are becoming polluted. People are throwing things into the water. Factories are dumping waste materials into the water. Cities are dumping sewage into the water. Some water sources have become so badly polluted that the water cannot be made fit to use. Would you like to drink water that came from a source that had been so badly mistreated? Now is the time that we should take up our responsibility to protect our environment from being polluted.

The Olympic Games, first held in 776BC, has a history of more than one thousand yiars. The Games is held every four years.
Many countries try their best to bid forhosting the Olympic Games. And every country does its best to get more medals in the Games. In 2000, the city of Sidney held the 27th Olympic Games. Over one hundred countries all over the world took part in it. We won 28gold medals that year. China, a major sport country, will hold the 29th Olympic Games in 2008. People from all walks of life are participating in various activities and making good preparations for it.
There are five rings on the Olympic flag, which are considered to symbolize, the five continents: Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia and America. The Olympic motto is: "Swifter, higher, stronger." The Games can promote the understanding and friendship among different peoples and different nations.
