We have all been taught that it is wrong to lie,and yet we all tell little lies every day.These are white lies and,in my opinion,they are perfectly okey.We don't tell white lies to hurt others or gain some advantage.On the contrary,we tell them to make others feel better.
White lies can accomplish many things.First of all,they can hide painful truths and thereby prevent heartache and suffering.At times,white lies are better than the truth.Second,white lies can encourage others.They are a potent psychology that can turn a life around.Third,they can bring happiness.Without white lies,children would not have the fun if believing in Santa Claus.Finally,they are a part of our culture.Everyone tells them because they make communication easier and more pleasant.
In conclusion,although we all know that honesty is the best policy,sometimes a white lie is more approprite than the truth.White lies are harmless and useful and they make this world a better place.

Telling lie is usually looked upon as an evil, because some people try to get benefit from dishonest means or try to conceal their faults. On the other hand,honesty is widely recognized as the best policy.
Parents always try to prove the benefits of being honest when you are a little child. A good story in this regard is .One day the child Washington chop down his farther’ s favorite cherry tree; although knowing he would deserve to be punished, he told his father the truth. Unexpected, his farther apprised him rather than executing a punishment; moreover, he was encouraged to maintain the good manner all the time. As known to all, the honest boy eventually became one of the greatest presidents in American history.
However, telling lie,despite its negative effects, sometimes is essential in our daily life. First, the liar itself will benefit from the lie by escaping from the pressure of unnecessary embarrassment. On the other hand, the listener will feel more comfortable by reasonable excuses. For example, if a little girl’s farther died in an accident, her mother would comfort her by saying" farther has gone to another beautiful land". In such cases, a lie with original goodwill is like a naught angel who might make the cruel nice. Taking all those factors into consideration, we can definitely come to the conclusion that whether telling lie is harmful depends on its original intention and the ultimate result it will bring. If one is honest with oneself, one always learns from mistakes, can correct a concept or a hypothesis and work further, and reach the goal finally.

Telling a lie is morally wrong. Besides, there are many disadvantages lying in the way of a liar. First, he has to have a good memory, lest he contradicts at one time what he said in another. Second, he is always annoyed by his conscience, because he is in constant fear that his falsehood may be found out. Third, a liar is never trusted and respected by others. The result may be that his words, even when he speaks the truth, are not believed. Fourth and the last, once a person has told a lie, he cannot help telling another in order to conceal the first, and then a third and a fourth, until lying becomes ahabit. After that, he may say something untrue even when he wishes to speak the truth.
The disadvantages resulting from telling a lie are too many to be listed. The above are just some of the obvious ones. If you want to be free from these annoyances, if you want to be a trustworthy person, never tell a lie.
